BioRePeel vs PRX-T33 vs PRX Plus – which treatment is right for your skin?
BioRePeel, PRX-T33 and PRX Plus are three popular treatments for those who wish to improve their skin’s quality and achieve a more radiant complexion – usually without the severe flaking and recovery time associated with traditional, deeper chemical peels.
However, the treatments are not identical.
At NYOclinic, we usually simplify the choice as follows:
BioRePeel → TEXTURE • PORES • GLOW
PRX-T33 → FIRMNESS • ELASTICITY • GLOW
PRX Plus → AGE • PIGMENT • GLOW
Which one is best therefore depends on what, above all, you want to improve.
BioRePeel – for pores and uneven skin texture
BioRePeel is our choice when the focus is primarily on skin texture, pores and superficial imperfections.
The treatment consists of a combination of TCA and other acids, together with, amongst other things, amino acids and vitamins.
We often recommend BioRePeel for:
- visible pores
- uneven skin texture
- dull skin
- post-acne and superficial marks
- superficial pigmentation
- oily or blemished skin
- need for a bit of extra glow
BioRePeel usually involves a relatively short recovery time and significantly less visible flaking than many traditional peels.
In short: choose BioRePeel when TEXTURE and PORES are at the top of your wish list.
PRX-T33 – for firmness, elasticity and skin quality
The PRX-T33 differs from a traditional peel in that the treatment is primarily used as skin biorevitalisation.
It contains, amongst other ingredients, TCA and hydrogen peroxide, and has been developed to stimulate the skin without the intense exfoliation traditionally associated with higher concentrations of TCA.
We often recommend the PRX-T33 when the aim is:
- improved elasticity
- increased elasticity
- improved skin quality
- fine lines
- dull skin
- general skin rejuvenation
- glow
The PRX-T33 is therefore well suited for use when the skin does not necessarily have significant pigmentation or texture issues, but is starting to feel tired, less springy or less elastic.
In short: choose the PRX-T33 when FIRMNESS and ELASTICITY are the most important factors.
PRX Plus – for mature skin, pigmentation and photoageing
PRX Plus has been developed to work in a more targeted way with signs of ageing and uneven pigmentation whilst the treatment improves the quality of the skin.
We particularly recommend PRX Plus when the focus is on:
- mature skin
- sun-damaged skin
- pigmentation and uneven skin tone
- signs of ageing
- fine lines
- skin texture
- shines
PRX Plus is therefore particularly appealing when the customer wishes to combine skin rejuvenation with treatment for pigmentation and photoageing.
In short: choose PRX Plus when AGE and PIGMENT are at the top of the list.
What is the biggest difference?
To simplify the choice:
| Your main objective | Our first choice |
| Pores | BioRePeel |
| Uneven skin texture | BioRePeel |
| Post-acne/skin surface | BioRePeel |
| Elasticity | PRX-T33 |
| Elasticity | PRX-T33 |
| Fine lines/skin quality | PRX-T33 / PRX Plus |
| Mature skin | PRX Plus |
| Sun-damaged skin | PRX Plus |
| Pigmentation | PRX Plus |
| Glow | All three |
That does not mean that a treatment can only be used for these problems. There is a great deal of overlap between the treatments.
The difference is more a matter of which characteristic we wish to prioritise when choosing a treatment.
Which one gives the best glow?
All three.
If your only aim is for your skin to feel fresher, clearer and with more radiance, all three treatments may be relevant.
In that case, we’ll choose based on the skin’s other needs instead.
Do you have large pores and uneven skin texture? BioRePeel.
Does your skin feel less supple? PRX-T33.
Do you have sun damage, pigmentation and more pronounced signs of ageing all at the same time? PRX Plus.
Which is best for treating pigmentation?
For general pigmentation and photoageing, we often choose PRX Plus of these three.
BioRePeel can also be used to treat superficial pigmentation and uneven skin tone.
In cases of more pronounced pigmentation problems – and particularly in cases of melasma – However, we first need to assess what type of pigmentation is involved.
In that case, a specific pigment treatment such as MeLine be a better alternative than any of these three treatments.
Which one is best for pores?
Here, above all, we would choose BioRePeel.
BioRePeel focuses on exfoliation, cell renewal and skin texture, and is therefore particularly suitable for clients who are primarily concerned about visible pores, an uneven complexion or blemished skin.
However, it is not possible to permanently ”close” pores. The aim is to improve the skin’s texture and make the pores less noticeable.
Which one is best for mature skin?
This is where we usually choose PRX Plus, particularly if mature skin is combined with pigmentation, sun damage and an uneven complexion.
If, on the other hand, the main problem is that the skin has lost its firmness and elasticity without there being much pigmentation, then PRX-T33 be a better choice.
Age alone does not, therefore, determine the treatment – the skin’s needs make it so.
Which one has the least downtime?
One of the major advantages of all three treatments is the relatively short recovery time.
After the treatment, the skin may become slightly:
- red
- dry
- tight
- sensitive
- flaky
Reactions vary from person to person and from treatment to treatment.
Although they are often marketed as treatments without traditional exfoliation, it is important to remember that they contain active ingredients. No treatment can therefore be guaranteed to be completely free of skin reactions.
Do I need to go on a diet?
A single treatment may be beneficial when the main aim is glow and revitalisation.
For more long-term changes to, for example, skin texture, elasticity or pigmentation, multiple treatments are often recommended.
The number and frequency are tailored to the treatment we choose and what we wish to achieve.
BioRePeel, PRX or PRX Plus – which one should I book?
First and foremost, consider what bothers you the most:
Uneven skin texture and pores? → BioRePeel
Reduced bounce and elasticity? → PRX-T33
Mature/sun-damaged skin and pigmentation? → PRX Plus
Do you just want a glow? → Any of the three could work.
If you’re still unsure, there’s no need to try and diagnose your skin yourself. We’ll help you choose a treatment based on your skin type, skin condition and the results you want to achieve.
