Viscoderm Hydrobooster – treat fine lines and wrinkles without Botox
Would you like to reduce forehead wrinkles without using Botox? Or have you tried Botox before but found that your forehead feels heavy, your eyebrows droop, or you lose too much of your natural facial expressions?
In that case, Viscoderm Hydrobooster may be an interesting option. It is an injectable treatment containing lightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid that can be used to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, whilst improving the skin’s hydration, elasticity and texture.

What is Viscoderm Hydrobooster?
Viscoderm Hydrobooster is produced by the well-known pharmaceutical company IBSA, the same manufacturer behind the popular treatments Profhilo and Profhilo Structura.
The product contains a soft, lightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel that has been specially developed to improve skin quality and treat superficial lines and wrinkles.
Unlike traditional fillers, which are often used to create volume and shape, Hydrobooster is designed to blend seamlessly into the skin and provide a more subtle smoothing effect.
The treatment has two main effects:
- Smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles: The soft hyaluronic acid gel can be injected into the skin to reduce the appearance of superficial wrinkles.
- Improved skin quality: Hyaluronic acid binds water and helps to improve hydration, elasticity and the smoothness of the skin’s surface.
This combined effect is also known as Hydrostretching, which moisturises the skin whilst softening fine lines.

An alternative to Botox for forehead wrinkles
Botox is an effective treatment for expression lines, but it is not suitable for everyone.
Some people find that their forehead feels heavy after Botox, or that their eyebrows end up lower than they would like. This can be particularly noticeable in people who use their forehead muscles to compensate for heavy upper eyelids or low-set eyebrows.
Others simply want to retain their natural facial expressions and be able to move their forehead as normal, whilst at the same time reducing the lines that have already formed in the skin.
Viscoderm Hydrobooster could be an option here.
Unlike Botox, Hydrobooster does not affect muscle movement. Instead, the skin itself is treated with a gentle hyaluronic acid gel that can make fine lines less noticeable.
It is important to understand that this treatment does not have the same effect as Botox. Botox reduces the muscle activity that causes expression lines, whilst Hydrobooster primarily improves the skin’s quality and can smooth out existing lines.
For people who want to retain their facial expressions or who are not comfortable with Botox, this may still be an interesting treatment option.
Which wrinkles can be treated with Hydrobooster?
Viscoderm Hydrobooster has been developed primarily for superficial wrinkles and areas where the skin moves a great deal.
Examples of areas where this treatment may be appropriate include:
- Forehead wrinkles: Horizontal lines that are visible even when the forehead is relaxed.
- Laughter lines around the eyes: Fine lines and crow’s feet around the eyes.
- Wrinkles around the mouth: Vertical lines above the upper lip, sometimes known as smoker’s lines.
- Fine lines on the cheeks: Superficial lines that appear when you smile or laugh.
- Sleep lines: Lines that appear or become more pronounced when the skin is compressed whilst sleeping.
- Neck wrinkles: Horizontal lines on the neck
Not all types of wrinkles can be treated in the same way. Sleep lines and fine lines on the cheeks, for example, may have different underlying causes, and the results depend on the condition of the skin and the depth of the wrinkles.
An individual assessment is therefore required to determine whether Hydrobooster is suitable or whether another treatment might yield better results. Furthermore, not all areas are suitable for injection due to anatomical risks.
Hydrobooster improves skin quality and stimulates collagen production
As well as smoothing out fine lines, Viscoderm Hydrobooster also has skin-enhancing properties.
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the skin and plays an important role in binding water and maintaining the skin’s moisture balance.
As we get older, the skin’s levels of hyaluronic acid and other supportive substances decrease. The skin can then become drier, less elastic and more prone to developing fine lines.
By delivering hyaluronic acid directly into the skin, Hydrobooster can help to:
- Improved moisturisation
- Improved skin elasticity
- A smoother and softer skin texture
- Reduced appearance of fine lines
- Fresher skin with a more radiant glow
Laboratory studies have also shown that Viscoderm Hydrobooster can affect fibroblasts – the cells in the skin that are responsible, amongst other things, for the production of collagen and elastin.
The results suggest possible positive effects on the skin’s supporting tissue, but further research is needed to determine the extent of the collagen-stimulating effect in human subjects.
How many treatments are needed?
At NYO Clinic, we usually recommend two treatments approximately one month apart, depending on the condition of the skin, the area being treated and the individual treatment plan. The treatment interval is adjusted in accordance with the product instructions and medical assessment.
Some patients may notice an improvement after just the first treatment, but the results may become more apparent after the second.
The aim of repeated treatments is to gradually improve the appearance of the skin and achieve a more long-lasting result.
How long the effects last varies depending on factors such as skin quality, lifestyle, the area treated and how the body breaks down hyaluronic acid. Follow-up treatments may be required.
What is the difference between Viscoderm Hydrobooster and Profhilo?
Both Viscoderm Hydrobooster and Profhilo are manufactured by IBSA and are based on hyaluronic acid, but the products are used for slightly different treatment aims.
Profhilo is used primarily to improve skin quality, hydration and elasticity across a larger treatment area.
Viscoderm Hydrobooster has been specially developed to treat fine lines and superficial wrinkles in a more targeted manner.
If you are mainly bothered by isolated wrinkles, for example on your forehead or around your mouth, Hydrobooster may therefore be an option worth considering.
If, on the other hand, the aim is a more general improvement in skin quality, Profhilo or other skin-improving treatments may be more suitable.
However, these treatments do not have to be mutually exclusive. On the contrary, they can complement one another as part of a more comprehensive treatment for the whole face.
Full Face treatment – combining Profhilo Structura, Profhilo and Viscoderm Hydrobooster
As we age, changes occur at several levels in the face. It is not just a matter of the skin becoming drier and developing wrinkles, but also of changes in the underlying fatty tissue, the skin’s elasticity and the face’s supporting structures.
For this reason, it can sometimes be more effective to combine different treatments that target different aspects of facial ageing, rather than focusing solely on individual wrinkles.
At NYO Clinic, for example, we can combine three different types of hyaluronic acid treatments to create a more comprehensive and natural Full Face treatment.
- Profhilo Structura – for the face’s fatty tissue and structure
Profhilo Structura has been developed to treat age-related changes in the facial fat tissue.
With age, the superficial fat compartments can change and decrease in volume, which can contribute to the face losing its former fullness and firmness.
Profhilo Structura has been developed to address these changes and help improve tissue support, without acting as a traditional volume-building filler.
- Profhilo or Sunekos – for skin quality
The next step could be to improve the quality of the skin.
Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid treatment used primarily to improve the skin’s hydration, elasticity and firmness.
Juvéderm Volite, a skin booster from Allergan Aesthetics, may also be an option for improving the skin’s hydration and quality.
The treatment we choose depends on the condition of your skin, your preferences and what we consider to be the most suitable option.
- Viscoderm Hydrobooster – for fine lines and wrinkles
As a final step, we can focus more specifically on the fine lines and wrinkles that are still visible on the skin.
Viscoderm Hydrobooster can be used here to smooth out selected superficial wrinkles, for example around the mouth, on the cheeks or in other areas where treatment is deemed appropriate.
By combining treatments for fat tissue, skin quality and fine lines, we can address several of the face’s signs of ageing at the same time.
The aim is not to change your appearance or create unnecessary volume, but to improve the condition of your skin and face to achieve a natural and harmonious result.
The treatments do not need to be carried out at the same time. We draw up a personalised treatment plan, taking into account which products are right for you, which areas need treating and the appropriate intervals between treatments.
Nor does everyone need all three treatments. Sometimes a single treatment is sufficient, whilst a combination may be more suitable for others.
Does the treatment hurt, and are there any risks?
Viscoderm Hydrobooster involves injecting small amounts of hyaluronic acid gel into the skin. The treatment may cause some discomfort, but is usually relatively quick.
After treatment, small raised areas, redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising may occur. These reactions are usually temporary.
As with other hyaluronic acid injection treatments, there are also rarer complications, such as infection, lumps and vascular complications. In rare cases, a vascular complication may cause serious tissue damage or affect vision. The forehead and the area between the eyebrows are particularly at risk.
That is why we always carry out an individual medical assessment to determine whether the treatment is suitable for you and which area can be treated.
