Stem cell treatment for hair – stimulate natural hair regrowth
Stem cell treatment for hair is a modern method that supports natural hair regrowth by stimulating the hair follicles. The treatment combines the body’s own stem cells, fibroblasts and PRP (platelet-rich fibrin) to create the right conditions for a healthier scalp and stronger hair growth.
At At Dr. Nina in Gothenburg, we offer PRF treatments to slow down hair loss and strengthen your existing hair.

What is stem cell treatment for hair?
A stem cell treatment for hair uses the body’s own cells to stimulate the hair follicles. These are combined with PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), which is produced from the patient’s own blood. PRP contains growth factors that can support healing processes and create a favourable environment for hair regrowth.
Dermomine is the name given to this type of treatment, in which the body’s own cells and biological components are combined to stimulate the scalp.
The combination of stem cells, fibroblasts and PRP is designed to provide broad biological stimulation to the scalp. Please read more about the difference between PRP and PRF in our Informative article: PRP vs PRF.

How does the treatment work?
A traditional stem cell treatment for hair is carried out under sterile conditions and consists of several stages:
- A small tissue sample is taken from behind the ear.
- A blood sample is taken to produce PRP.
- The blood is centrifuged to separate the plasma.
- Stem cells, fibroblasts and PRP are mixed together.
- The mixture is injected into the areas of the scalp where hair growth needs to be stimulated.
The treatment is always carried out by medically trained staff.
Who is the treatment suitable for?
This treatment may be suitable for people who have:
- Premature hair loss
- Thinner hair
- Thinning hair
- Early-onset hereditary hair loss
It is always a consultation that determines whether the treatment is suitable and which treatment plan is recommended.
Results and follow-up care
Hair grows slowly, so results develop gradually. Many people start to notice changes after a few months, whilst the full effect usually becomes apparent over a period of 6–12 months.
After the treatment, it is important to follow the aftercare advice given to you by your practitioner. This may include avoiding strenuous exercise, washing your hair and prolonged exposure to the sun for the first 24 hours, to give your scalp the best possible chance to recover.
Stem cell therapy or PRP – what’s the difference?
Both stem cell therapy and PRP hair treatment use PRP as part of the treatment. The difference is that stem cell therapy also contains the patient’s own stem cells and fibroblasts from a tissue sample.
PRP is often used as a stand-alone treatment for hair loss, whilst stem cell therapy may be an alternative when one wishes to combine several biological components in the same treatment.
The most suitable method is always determined following a consultation and an individual assessment of the scalp and hair loss.
