Meline

MeLine pigment treatment – for melasma and pigmentation spots

Pigmentation and melasma can be difficult to treat and often require more than a single treatment. At NYOclinic in Gothenburg, we specialise in MeLine, a professional treatment system developed specifically for hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone.

MeLine combines in-clinic treatment with active home care and can be tailored to suit skin type, the type of pigmentation and the area to be treated.

What is MeLine?

MeLine is a depigmenting skincare system that works by targeting various processes involved in the skin’s melanin production.

MeLine can be used for, amongst other things:

  • melasma
  • sun damage and pigmentation spots
  • post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)
  • uneven skin tone
  • the odd dark spot
  • pigmentation in the armpits and external genital areas

Which MeLine programme is best for you depends on your skin type, the type of pigmentation you have and where it is located.

MeLine for melasma

Melasma is a complex and often recurrent form of pigmentation that usually appears as larger, diffuse brown or grey-brown patches on the face.

Hormones, UV radiation, visible light, heat and inflammation can affect melasma. It is therefore important to exercise caution with certain laser and heat-based treatments, as overly aggressive treatment may, in some cases, stimulate pigmentation rather than improve it.

MeLine is one of the treatment options we use for melasma and is based on a combination of professional treatment and ongoing depigmenting home care.

MeLine Caucasian – for lighter skin types

For lighter skin types, we mainly use MeLine Caucasian Skin, developed for skin types I–III.

The treatment combines professional clinic treatment with a personalised home care programme. The home care routine usually includes, amongst other things, Day, Night and Pigment Home Mask.

As active pigment products can dry out the skin, we often also recommend MeLine Restore to strengthen and moisturise the skin, as well as providing daily sun protection.

MeLine Ethnic – for darker skin tones

For darker skin tones, there are MeLine Ethnic Skin, developed for skin types IV–VI.

Darker skin is more prone to developing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) following irritation or inflammation. It is therefore particularly important to choose the right product, treatment strength and aftercare.

Just like the Caucasian programme, MeLine Ethnic combines treatment at the clinic with personalised home care.

Home care is an important part of MeLine

MeLine should be regarded as a treatment programme – not a quick fix.

The professional treatment at the clinic provides an intensive start, whilst the home care regime continues to address the pigmentation day after day.

We therefore do not recommend having a professional MeLine facial treatment without subsequently following the recommended home care programme.

We usually recommend treating the pigmentation for at least 3–6 months and then evaluate the results.
