What is microneedling?
Microneedling has been on the market for a relatively long time and is a well-proven method of stimulating collagen formation and rejuvenating the skin.
It has 2 different mechanisms of action.
Firstly, the device itself has a number of thin needles that make tiny microchannels in the skin. This causes a controlled injury that triggers the healing process and creates new collagen.
In addition, active ingredients are channelled through microchannels deep under the skin, where they have a more powerful effect than what you get with conventional skin care creams. Depending on what you choose to channel down, you can work on different problems, such as pigmentation, scars, or fine lines.
Dermapen with PRF, what is it good for?
PRF is like second-generation PRP, and has a more powerful collagen stimulating effect than regular PRP.
Both PRP and PRF are obtained by centrifuging your blood to produce concentrated plasma filled with growth factors and stem cells. Using this together with microneedling provides the most powerful stimulation of the skin and improves not only signs of ageing but also pigmentation, pores and scars at the same time.
Is dermapen the same as microneedling?
Dermapen is a brand of microneedling device. It is the best known brand and is characterised by having 16 small thin needles compared to other devices which often have between 10-12 needles. In addition, it is very fast, causing 1920 small microchannels in the skin per second!
What's also special about Dermapen is the products you use during treatment. They are specially developed serums that work with a range of different types of problems.
Dermapen against Ice pick scars
There are many types of acne scars. The most difficult to treat type of scar is called icepick scars and are small, deep, narrow, round scars left by acne.
Regular microneedling and many types of laser work on everything except ice ick scars. Treating these types of scars often requires a strong acid that you put locally inside the scars. During your microneedling treatment, you may choose to add TCA acid to your ice-pick scars. Remember that you may need several treatments to be satisfied, and that you should not have sunbathed for at least 2 months before your treatment with TCA acid.
