Treatment for Tight Jaws

Botox in the jaw can be used both medically and aesthetically.

Medically, it is used for bruxism - i.e. teeth grinding, or for tense jaws which in turn cause headaches.

Aesthetically, it is used to slim down the lower part of the face, and is sometimes called V-shape face slimming, as the lower part of the face is slimmed down if you have strong jaw muscles.

What is bruxism?

Bruxism is the medical term for teeth grinding or clenching. It often happens in your sleep and sometimes you are not aware of it yourself. Your sleeping partner or dentist may have pointed it out to you.

Teeth grinding leads to tooth decay (clinical study). Your dentist will often prescribe you a mouthguard so that your teeth are not destroyed. However, this does not prevent the muscles from being active during the night, and you may still wake up with a headache.
